Course Description

Family and Consumer Science is a 20 week course which meets every day.  This course is taught using a “hands – on” approach utilizing, incorporating, and reinforcing math, science, reading, writing, and technology skills whenever possible.  The following topics may be covered:  Character Education, Personal Development, Problem Solving / Decision Making, Family Resource Management, Clothing Management, Food Preparation,Nutrition and Wellness, Money Management and Consumerism

Cell phones /Electronic Devices / Earbuds are not allowed in school for 7th and 8th grades.  If a student is caught with their cell phone during school hours, it will be taken and given to a school administrator, as outlined in the school student handbook. 

Grading

Students’ work will be evaluated in the following way:

            20%      Classwork / Homework / Participation

            40%      Projects

            40%       Tests 

 Late assignments will have 10 points deducted from the assignment grade.

Supplies

 Students will need a yellow binder (with 3 dividers) with them every day in class, along with their agenda.  They must have a blue or black ink pen or pencil and a supply of loose leaf paper.
